The Chronicles
The Schiaparelli Institute Chronicles is the Institute's publishing programme — a body of work spanning two collections of short stories and two multi-volume novel series, following three generations of investigators across four decades, four continents, and one question that the most powerful organisation in human history has spent millennia trying to silence.
Genesis — Short Stories
The prequel collection. Twenty investigations conducted by the Institute's first research team in the late twentieth century, spanning sites from Los Angeles to Xi'an, from the Peruvian highlands to the Swiss Alps. Each investigation examines a specific anomaly — a vitrified desert floor in India, a crystal skull with an engineered waveguide lattice in Belize, an aerospace-grade ceramic helmet in Arizona, a buried chamber inscribed with a complete text in an unknown language beneath the Chinese loess plateau — and each investigation connects to the others through a pattern of recurring evidence: the same material signature, the same unidentified script, the same institutional interference. Genesis records what the first team found, what it cost them, and why, decades later, an old man in a Geneva room began to plan again.
The Main Series — Volumes 1–11
The second team's story. Four investigators assembled by a patron who learned, at terrible cost, how the first attempt failed and what the second would need to survive. Anna Carlsson, a Swedish archaeologist whose empiricism anchors the team in evidence. Pedro Santos, a Portuguese navigator and historian whose maritime expertise and exploratory instinct open doors across continents. Lorenzo Marchetti, an Italian physicist whose background in theoretical science and Renaissance culture bridges the gap between ancient knowledge and modern understanding. Theresa Whitmore, an English biologist and forensic scientist whose relentless scepticism ensures that every extraordinary claim earns its place through extraordinary evidence.
And Maya — their handler, briefer, and the woman standing between the team and the truth. Trained by the very organisation that has been suppressing evidence for centuries, Maya's loyalties are the series' deepest mystery. She knows more than she reveals. She steers as much as she guides. And the question of whether her intelligence will outrun her conditioning — whether her curiosity will defeat her training — is the thread that runs through every volume.
Across eleven volumes and over 120 investigations, the team traces a pattern from ancient enigmas through lost civilisations, religious mysteries, modern conspiracies, cryptids, archaeological anomalies, paranormal phenomena, historical mysteries, and scientific anomalies — each investigation peeling back another layer of a conspiracy.
Rebirth — Short Stories
The bridge collection. Set between the main series and its continuation, these stories follow two central figures whose arcs span the entire Chronicles: The patron and Maya. Their stories fill the space between what was discovered and what comes next — the years of planning, the recruitment, the decisions made in silence that shaped everything.
The Noetic Inheritance — Volumes 12–18
The continuation series. Two years after the public revelation, the Institute of Noetic Sciences approaches the team with data that reframes everything: the physical evidence — the artefacts, the monuments, the source language — was only half the inheritance. The other half is encoded in the human mind itself.
The Noetic Inheritance pivots from archaeology to consciousness, from digging in the earth to exploring the deepest structures of the mind. Grounded in real research from the Institute of Noetic Sciences, the Princeton Global Consciousness Project, the University of Virginia Division of Perceptual Studies, and decades of suppressed consciousness research, the continuation series investigates the hard problem of consciousness, reexamines world religious traditions as technologies of mind, maps a global network of ancient sites designed to amplify human awareness, and confronts the most urgent question of our time: the rise of artificial intelligence.
The original series asked: Where did we come from? The continuation answers: What are we capable of becoming?
